COMPUTE™ Servers Overview

VMS Co. makes selecting the right COMPUTE™ VMS server for your application simple, by considering the following key requirements.

Construct the COMPUTE™ VMS server you need

Channels (Processor)

How many video channels does your system need to process and record? We specify the correct server CPUs (Central Processor Units) for the job.

HDD Bays (Storage)

The processor type defines the number of video channels the server can handle. We have a range of processors to suit all applications.

PSU (Single or Dual PSU)

VMS Co. offers single or dual (redundant), PSU (power supply unit) options. A dual, redundant, power supply ensures server power is maintained. Should the first PSU fail, the second redundant PSU takes over, providing a higher level of resilience.

RAID

The RAID configuration of the storage HDDs and operating system (OS) determine the level of resilience the server has, in case of storage or operating system failures. VMS Co. usually offers RAID 5 on rack servers, so a failed HDD can be replaced whilst the server is still operational (hot swap), without losing any video data. VMS Co. usually provides the OS on RAID 1 SSD drives, so if one drive fails the other takes over, in real time.

Failover

VMS Co. supports a range of failover solutions for high-security and mission critical applications, redirecting the camera recording streams from the failed, live server or servers, to the failover backup server or servers. Exact failover functionality, such as one-to-one failover, spread servers, or critical camera failover are all options, but are usually dependent on the choice of Video Management Software used, not the hardware. Please contact VMS Co. to discuss your requirements.

Service Wrap

VMS Co. offers several additional services such as logistics, installation, de-installation, and data erasure services to ensure customers have an end-to-end tailored solution to meet their needs, within data compliance regulations. Our MOSS™ servers are available from stock or built using stock items. This allows us to design, build and deliver servers quickly and efficiently.

*The number of video channels and frames varies depending on the Video Management Software being used.

**The recording profile used for this comparison chart is based on 4MP camera channels operating at 12FPS or 2MP camera channels operating at 25FPS.
