Specifying OBSERVE™ Clients

The OBSERVE™ 2U Client Optimised servers from VMS Co. are optimised for live and playback viewing of many concurrent video streams within a VMS system, displaying them effectively across multiple monitors. The OBSERVE™ Clients can be used for remote monitoring, remote viewing and videowalls within professional, video management software (VMS) applications. 

The OBSERVE™ 2U Client Optimised servers use NVIDIA™ GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) to perform the video processing required for viewing multiple video streams, alongside the server CPU (Central Processing Unit) for system management. The GPU is specifically designed for fast, video processing performance, enabling many camera channels to be viewed simultaneously on multiple monitors. They come with 4 or 8 mini Display Port (mDP) monitor connections.

Each OBSERVE™ 2U Client Optimised server model states the typical quantity of video channels it can process concurrently (based on a D1 visualisation stream not the HD recorded stream) and the number of monitors it can connect to and control. The OBSERVE™ servers are available with a single NVIDIA GPU or DUAL NVIDIA GPUs, providing processing of 150 or 300 D1 (720x576 pixel) video streams respectively. This quantity of channels is based on viewing multiple D1 streams. The exact quantity of concurrent video channels processed depends on each video channel’s configuration, with larger 1080p or 4k viewing streams using more available channel processing budget.

The OBSERVE™ 2U Client Optimised servers are designed for reliability and resilience, with dual PSU as standard and a RAID 1 mirrored SSD operating system. Dual NICs provide a network throughput of 2Gbps.

The OBSERVE™ 2U Client Optimised servers come with 09:00 - 17:00 technical support and return-to-base warranty. They have an option for next business day (NBD), on site 3 year to 7-year warranty, at extra cost.
